This change is being prompted by a change in OS X. A couple of months ago, Apple changed the java applet plug-in used by browsers, and that plug-in doesn't properly support drag & drop. So, the Rumpus drag & drop applet no longer works on up-to-date Snow Leopard and Lion clients. The multi-file selection option isn't a direct fix for this problem, but does significantly reduce the need for the applet, since it makes it easier to select any number, or all, of the files in a folder. The multi-file selection option is also a much cleaner, faster way of selecting multiple files for those that don't use the drag & drop applet. This is an important update for any Rumpus server when clients commonly upload more than 1 file at a time. In fact, it is such a widespread issue that I'll be sending a notice to every Rumpus user, so expect another note on this later today or tomorrow. Everything works beautifully! Thanks, John, great work as usual! Along w/ multiple file upload, I am especially impressed with the tweaks to the folder trigger (having upgraded from a number of revs back).? One thing that would would help the folks, like me, who have a large clientele base with many uploads, various sub administrators/producers who are in the ever revolving door, would be the ability to have the folder trigger auto add the username of who is uploading, in the subject field. I plugged in the folder trigger to the main folder and that works so much more efficiently than my having to add every new user a producer creates to the list of notices. So, BOOM, any files that go up - everyone gets a notice. Nice. But the problem then becomes that there are so many notices that the producers have to sift through the emails to see which one(s) are related to their files and clients. The solution would be to have the subject field auto-fill with the user name and then my message after (which is - "FTP File Upload"). This way it would read "Michael FTP File Upload" and the producers could sift through the pertinent emails. Remember, John, we have been using the auto-email for years, and all the producers and myself have been trying to figure out a way that is easy, somewhat automatic, and allows the sub admins (another fantastic feature BTW), to generate a clear notification process. ?? Seems like, with these additions, this might just do the trick. In any event - Great Work! Michael -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Just include a "" token in the Subject field. On the "Custom Message Body" sheet, there is a pop-up menu that automates inserting the supported tokens into the e-mail message. The pop-up isn't offered on the mail e-mail setup window, but those token still work in the "Message" fields. So, you can include the user name, filename, etc. in the subject of e-mailed notices. As an aside, many people handle this situation by organizing their folders so that each end-user home folder falls within their main contact's folder. For example, if you have 3 local "producers", each of which has multiple clients, your directory structure would look like this: -- Producer 1 -- Client A -- Client B -- Producer 2 -- Client C -- Client D -- Client E -- Client F -- Producer 3 -- Client G -- Client H -- Client I ... Now, you can create a Folder Trigger for each producer (probably with a "CC" to yourself), and each producer will receive notices only when one of their clients sends a file. This structure is also useful because producers can then log into the server and have easy access to their own client's content areas. There are cases where this type of structure isn't appropriate, of course, but in a lot of situations, it can be a handy way to set things up. I?d like to use a single IP address to access port 80 for both Rumpus WFM (via port 8000) and the Lion Server Wiki. I?ve seen info about using reverse proxy with Apache 2.x to set things so that a subdomain (e.g., ?files.RumpusProxySubdomain.com?) will direct all port 8000 traffic to Rumpus, while the normal subdomain (e.g., ?server.myMainServerName.com?) continues to receive messages. There?s a description of this method on the Maxum site here: http://www.maxum.com/Rumpus/FAQ-WFM.html Apache config editing is a bit daunting for me as I don?t know the syntax to get into the config file. Can anyone offer a step-by-step? Another method I read about trying to learn about on line, I found out about here uses webappctl and allows you create a service via a webapp.plist. This is supposedly a lot easier than editing the Apache config file; theres an example plist file you can work with, but I?m not familiar with either. Heres? the quote from the article and the link: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3302298?start=0&tstart=0 From the article: >> Ok I found that by creating a webapp by using the a webapp.plist is the best way to go and saves playing around with apace config files. >> An example document is under the /etc/apache2/webapps folder >> You do need to start the webapp from the console with the webappctl command >> I now have a reverse proxy up and running for my exchange server Any insights into how to safely get this going appreciated. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... You don't really need to deal with the reverse proxy IIRC if you just want stuff to work on port 8000. That's just adding another site to the server on port 8000 and having all the URLs for it read "http://www.server.com:8000/" The problems you run into are people never remembering the different port, and overly paranoid firewalls not allowing it. You're far better off just setting up a vhost for port 80 for Rumpus. -- john welch the / zimmerman / agency 850.668.2222 jwelch at zimmerman.com -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
