From john at maxum.com Wed Oct 6 07:47:25 2010 From: john at maxum.com (John O'Fallon) Date: Wed, 6 Oct 2010 09:47:25 -0500 Subject: [Rumpus-talk] Rumpus 7 Update Message-ID: <1EA6A104-EB76-492B-BFC1-0FF5CFF97661@maxum.com> It's been a while since Rumpus 7 Beta 4 became available, so an update is in order... A ton of work has gone into the next release, but no major new features have been added since version 7.0 Beta 4. Instead, it's all been polish, trying to optimize every element of Rumpus, especially the Web File Manager interface. Many suggestions have been implemented, and Rumpus 7 functionality is complete. Expect a "final candidate" release within the next week or so (depending on how the documentation review/edits go). That release will be a ready-for-prime-time, complete package that includes integrated SSL support, an updated Web interface, much improved Drop Shipping, and more. Thanks for your patience, and watch for "Rumpus 7.0fc1" soon. John From JOHN at MAXUM.COM Mon Oct 18 08:45:13 2010 From: JOHN at MAXUM.COM (John O'Fallon) Date: Mon, 18 Oct 2010 10:45:13 -0500 Subject: [Rumpus-talk] Rumpus 7.0fc1 Message-ID: <15DC2313-8F83-4928-861B-6A57A488DAA3@MAXUM.COM> It's been a while since the last Beta, but Rumpus 7.0 Final Candidate 1 is finally here. A lot of work has gone into correcting little (and not-so-little) bugs and adding polish, and this is a very stable release. If you are one of the first 3 or 4 people to try the new "fc" build, please report back to the list on your experience. The package is missing the "Helpful Info" articles, which will be added for the final 7.0 release. Everything else is ready to go, though, including the Help pages within the Rumpus application. If you have any questions about any of the new features, be sure to choose "Rumpus Help" from the Help menu for an explanation of each option. Here's the direct download link: http://www.maxumdev.com/DownloadPackages/Rumpus-7.0fc1.dmg Many of the features discussed here on the list have been addressed, but as always, there's more work to do. Version 7 currently includes big improvements in Drop Shipping, WFM usability, SSL support, Event Notices, Open Directory support, and more, so at this point the feature set is frozen to what's in "fc1". Remember all the problems I was having with updating the Daemon? Well, that went smooth as can be this time. My logo on the front screen was replaced with a Rumpus logo, and I had to do some changes in the display options of my WFM to make it look like it used to (I use a fade, etc....) Other than that, performing well so far. Message-ID: Can anyone out there recommend someone I can turn to, to do some custom script writing relating to Rumpus? I?d like to create some automatic user creation options, etc... I suppose another question, is this. I am thinking of putting my FTP site ?public? on my website. Right now, I have a private address that we email instructions to people to access. If I were to put a public link, so that people can just go to it, log in, and upload files at will.... How would you set this up, so as to prevent people from just logging in and uploading viruses, etc...? I don?t want to have to bother emailing people instructions and/or usernames and passwords. I really just want to have a way for people to go on there, set up new accounts, get a confirmation email to respond to (maybe type in one of those cryptic code letter things), then upload files themselves. That way, I wouldn?t have to be bothered to set up new user accounts. Easy as it is, I get probably 2-3 new people everyday uploading files, and it?d be just too much of a burden. Thanks for any help, Jon -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
