However, there are options... The first is purely manual, but is probably the most reliable and efficient. Zip compress the folder (in the Finder on a Mac, just control-click the folder and choose "Compress...") and then upload the zip file. Of course, that requires a bit of extra work on the part of the user and isn't enforceable. The second is to use an FTP client. Most FPT clients support transfer of entire folders, and do so intuitively. The third option is to use the Drag & Drop Uploader in the Web File Manager. This option is often the easiest for end users since it requires no extra work and doesn't require a dedicated FTP client, but it requires a java applet to be sent to the client and executed locally. On many computers, running a java applet causes a delay while starting the java virtual machine, requires the user to confirm trust via a warning dialog, and means that the client be capable of running java applets. For details, see the "Drag & Drop Uploads" section of the "Web File Manager" article in the Rumpus package. I want to take my site public (it's on a private address at the moment, and has been for a couple years). However, I don't want to be bothered with having to create a new user for every person that wants to upload files (that would be probably 100 people every month, at least). I would like to keep the anonymous login (with an email address) enabled. When people upload files, they can submit answers through the upload forms? But I wanted to find out if anyone else already does this ? and if so ? are there any major security problems? Any feedback at all is appreciated. Thanks! This is a common issue, but Rumpus 6 & 7 handle Web administration in the same way. In Rumpus (6 or 7), create a user account called "Defaults", or something like that, and give it a long random password so that it won't actually be usable. Set that account with the defaults you'd like to have applied to new users when created via Web administration. On the "Web Settings" window, click the "Web-Based User Account Admin" button and select the "Defaults" account as the template account. With that set, users will be assigned the needed defaults, and in particular won't have admin rights by default. > BUT, I see that the problem with new users still getting the default WFM appearance instead of the the same as the domain it is created in still exist so I'm guessing that won't be addressed anytime soon? The default domain should also be applied as described above. John -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Selecting "None" is fine, or select a notice, but the pop-up menu can't be blank (which can happen if you select a notice for either of those fields, and then delete it from the Event Notices window). Of course, Rumpus should never crash, and I'll make sure to improve error detection to avoid the problem in the final release. If that doesn't solve the problem, please contact me privately so we can dig deeper ("support at maxum.com"). Thanks for the report! The main reason for the new release is to add to the available pool of 6.2 serial numbers, needed because version 7 is, ahem, late. The 6.2.11 build also includes a fix for a buffer overflow bug that could cause a crash. The problem is rare though (actually, it's never been reported to have occurred in production, only in the test lab), so the update is considered non-critical. Rumpus 7 is due very soon... I'm just revising the screencast tutorials and the Web site. Hopefully, everything will be ready by next week.
