To answer your question specifically, no, there is no good way to  
alter that value.  You could tweak the config file, but as soon as you  
open the Web Settings window, Rumpus will probably reset it to a pre- 
determined value.  This would be less reliable and more of a pain than  
just altering the template page directly.

You are correct that the downside of customizing templates is that  
future template updates need to be merged with the customizations.  In  
this case, it's a simple find & replace, so while you do have to  
remember to re-make your customization after a template update, at  
least it's quick and easy.
