I debated this, along with how to accomplish other file options  
(delete, download, etc.) without requiring the pop-up menu.  The  
problem, of course, is they make the interface a bit clumsy.  I played  
around with it quite a bit, but couldn't come up with an interface I  
liked.

Of course, if it were an option, you could make the decision for  
yourself.  On the other hand, the user can always flip to the  
"Standard" list view, and select multiple files that way.

You don't see the filename below each image?  Please send the server  
address and a test name and password to "support at maxum.com" so I can  
take a look.

Yes, this is a possibility.  It starts to get complicated because  
there are other implied functions that go along with this, like  
payment options, check in/check out, proof acceptance, etc.  The  
functionality starts to try to address requirements of more specific,  
vertical uses.  This isn't out of the question at all, but it will  
take some thought to get right.

Rumpus 6.1 includes file "notes" (saved as spotlight comments), which  
starts to address this.  It would be interesting to allow you to  
create a upload center form to allow for formatted meta data...
