Agreed.  Let me see what I can do...

By default, all folders should start as unmarked.  I'm not sure why  
you would have folders that appear marked when you've never manually  
marked them.

"Marking" a folder really just creates a folder inside the marked  
folder called "Rumpus_Thumbs".  You can "mark" and "unmark" folders in  
the Finder simply by creating or deleting that folder.  The thumbnails  
Rumpus generates are stored in that sub-folder within each marked  
folder.

I'm still not sure why folders would appear marked when you've never  
marked them before, but perhaps this bit of information will help  
figure out what's going on.
